Our Mission
Did you know Fire Island Pines recycles 0% of its glass waste? Every glass bottle that gets shipped onto Fire Island ends up in a landfill. What a waste!
Pines Local Solutions, Inc. aims to create a hyperlocal glass-recycling center right here in The Pines. Recycled sand can be used for beach and bulkhead restoration, mixed with compost to create fertile new soil for gardens, and for landscaping and construction purposes.
Our First Goal Accomplished
Thank you to everyone who donated and helped us reach our goal of purchasing our first GLS2 Bottle Crusher! It has been delivered and put to use helping to make our community a more sustainable place.
Approximately 1400 pounds bottles crushed so far.
